Meghan Markle has found herself under fire after posting a Veterans Day tribute that critics have slammed as “utterly appalling.”

On November 11, while the UK marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and Remembrance Day, the United States observed Veterans Day — honoring all who have served in the armed forces.

To mark the occasion, Meghan, 44, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post dedicated to veterans, featuring her husband, Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex uploaded a clip of Prince Harry during his military service in Afghanistan, offering a rare glimpse of him in action. The footage, taken during a TV interview at Camp Bastion, showed Harry abruptly halting mid-sentence and running toward his Apache helicopter as an alarm sounded, signaling a possible security threat.

Alongside the video, Meghan included a recent photo of Harry from his trip to Canada, where he attended a Remembrance Day ceremony last week.

Harry served in the British Army from 2007 to 2013, completing two tours in Afghanistan and achieving the rank of Captain. He also trained as an Apache helicopter pilot.

In 2014, shortly before leaving military service, he founded the Invictus Games — an international sports competition for wounded, injured, and sick service members and veterans. The Games have since grown into a major global event that promotes rehabilitation through sport.

Meghan captioned her post:

Social Media Backlash

Despite her message of gratitude, Meghan’s post quickly drew criticism online. Many users appeared to confuse the American Veterans Day with the UK’s Remembrance Day, accusing her of being disrespectful or tone-deaf.

One outraged commenter wrote: “This is so utterly appalling, I’m at a genuine loss for words.”

Another fumed: “She’s completely clueless. November 11th is for those who made the ultimate sacrifice — it’s why we lay wreaths for the dead and poppies for Flanders Fields. This woman has no idea.”

A third critic mocked the video itself, saying: “It’s actually outrageous that she posted Harry running around in a pretend shot.”

Others accused Meghan of centering the tribute on her husband rather than on all veterans.
“Only Meghan can make Veterans Day about her meal ticket,” one person sneered.
Another added: “Of course she’s making it about Harry.”
