Meghan Markle sending ‘intentional’ message to royals with calculated move on Season 2 of Netflix show

Meghan Markle is reportedly using her wardrobe choices in Season 2 of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan to send a subtle but “intentional” message to the royal family.

California-based stylist and image consultant Cynthia Kennedy told the Daily Mail that the Duchess of Sussex has noticeably shifted her style to something “more modern” for the upcoming season.

“Her revamped style is sending everyone a message that says, ‘I don’t have to dress like a duchess anymore — I get to dress like myself, and be more approachable, modern, authentic and real,’” Kennedy explained.

She added, “Her choices feel deliberate and more like a conscious move toward comfort, vulnerability, relatability and ease without losing that sense of polish that keeps her aspirational. It’s a careful balance and I think she’s hitting it.”

A Shift From Season 1

Kennedy pointed out that Meghan’s fashion has “definitely” evolved from the first season, which premiered on Netflix in March, to the new one.

“In Season 1, Meghan relied on very polished, put-together looks that were almost ‘Duchess-lite’ — clean tailoring, muted neutrals, structured pieces and an overall feeling of being carefully refined,” she said.

“Season 2 feels softer, relaxed, effortless and more lived-in. Her looks are still elegant, but now it’s mixed with approachable pieces like relaxed, cozy knits, breezy dresses and more casual silhouettes.”

Connecting With Viewers

The former Suits star’s updated wardrobe, according to Kennedy, reflects a desire to appear “relatable” and authentic.

“It’s less like a public figure on a stage and more like a woman at home letting you into her world,” Kennedy explained.

She added that Meghan has always been mindful of her public image, and this change appears intentional. “It signals that she’s not trying to perform ‘royalty’ anymore, but instead connect with people as a modern woman, wife and mother. The softer looks strip away some of that formality and lean into relatability in a way that feels warm, grounded, and human — which helps her connect with viewers.”

New Season Coming Soon

Page Six has reached out to Markle’s representatives but has not yet received a response.

Just last week, the 44-year-old mother of two released the trailer for Season 2 of With Love, Meghan. In the preview, she once again welcomes celebrity guests into a rented home near her Montecito residence, cooking meals and walking them through her process.

Markle has remained estranged from Prince Harry’s relatives since the couple stepped down as senior royals and moved to North America in 2020.

Season 2 of With Love, Meghan will premiere on Netflix on August 26.
