Woman moves into $2K Texas apartment, discovers it comes with a ‘Squatter’

Awoman renting in Texas quickly learned her apartment came with more than just a place to sleep, cook and relax. She found an unintentional roommate waiting for her.

TikTok user @myraj2019 heard a noise coming from within her apartment. Tracking the sounds, she searched high and low to pinpoint the noise. Although she doubted whatever was making the noise would be in the ceiling, she checked anyway. Lo and behold, the culprit was in the vent.

She opened the ceiling vent to reveal a black figure staring back at her. Viewers must squint to determine what is looking at her in the June 14 TikTok video. But when searching close enough, you’ll find two cat eyes peering down from the vent. A black cat was living in the air vent. She had herself a “squatter.”

Who would’ve thought a monthly rent of $2,000 would come with a new pet? In most people’s eyes, that’s well worth the cost.

When she discovered it was a cat, she tried her best to get him out. However, the cat didn’t hesitate to put up a fight, scratching her and arching his back. She didn’t want to try anymore in case the cat, which she has since named Ventavion, had any illnesses.

She called the front office to tell them of the situation, she explained in a separate video. Then she informed animal control, which said the cat would eventually come out.

In a follow-up video, she told viewers invested in the story that Ventavion was not stuck in the vent. She had since found the cat outside on the roof, leading her to believe there was a small hole that allowed him to come and go.

Since the clip was posted, the black cat fell from the vent. Cowering behind the fridge, this TikToker tried everything to get him to trust her. The plan was to keep him, but when she took him outside to use the bathroom, he ran, never to be seen again.

She has now moved out of that apartment and believes Ventavion was her sign to adopt a cat as she moves to the next place.
