Harry and Meghan Spark Buzz with Dodgers Game Appearance

Part 1 of 2

The couple showed up to cheer, but it wasn’t long before royal watchers and baseball fans alike turned their attention elsewhere.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were among the famous faces spotted at Dodger Stadium for Game 4 of the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. Sitting front row, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked relaxed and animated throughout the night — but it was the person sitting behind them who ended up stealing the spotlight.

On Tuesday, October 28, the pair arrived in coordinated casual looks. Meghan, 44, kept it effortlessly chic in dark pants and an oversized white button-down, topping it off with a blue Dodgers cap. Harry, 40, mirrored her laid-back vibe in a white T-shirt layered under a black blazer and dark trousers.

From their prime seats near the field, they cheered on Meghan’s home team — unaware that just behind them sat baseball royalty: legendary Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax.

The Real Royalty in the Room

While the Sussexes’ attendance set social media buzzing, fans were even more thrilled to spot Koufax in the background of their photos. “More interested in the classy gentleman behind them, Mr. Sandy Koufax, a true legend!” one fan wrote. Another joked, “Royalty is sitting behind Markle and Harry.”

Others joined in, declaring, “Royalty is Koufax,” while some wondered aloud whether the couple realized who they were sitting in front of. “Sitting in front of Sandy Koufax! Hope they said hello — probably have no idea who he is!” one commenter mused.

Koufax, now 89, is one of baseball’s all-time greats. After earning a basketball scholarship to the University of Cincinnati in 1953, he shifted paths to pursue baseball, a move that changed the sport’s history. With the Dodgers, he became one of the most dominant left-handed pitchers of his generation, winning multiple Cy Young Awards before arthritis in his elbow forced him to retire at just 30.

In 1972, Koufax was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame — the youngest player ever to receive the honor — cementing his place as a true icon of the game.
