A woman posted her experience on Reddit. He wanted her to cover the bill for him and his pals at the restaurant, she explained, and he was mocking her because she earned more money than he did.

When she revealed that her salary had increased by 30%, her fiancé started talking about it.

“I have been engaged to my fiancé for five months. Because he wants money, we don’t discuss it. I was awarded a raise. He has been asking me to pay for himself and his buddies, and I’ve seen that he takes advantage of the fact that I earn 30% more than he does.

When I said “No” or “Why should I pay for this?” he constantly said, “The 30%, that’s why.” He paints it as unfair, as if I don’t deserve the 30%.

He had duped her into paying for the dinners more than once, so she announced before leaving that she would not make the payment this time.

He repeatedly deceived me into paying for his and his friend’s meals by asking me to do so in public. To be really honest, I’m too sweet to say no. I dislike fighting, especially in public places like restaurants, so I simply smile and pay.

Last Tuesday, he extended an invitation to dinner for me and his buddies. I immediately told him not to expect me to pay for their meals and that I wouldn’t be doing so. He stated, “I got this,” and “no worries.”

She reacted negatively to her fiancé’s request, conveyed in a whisper over their supper, that she pay again. “We made it to the restaurant. He ate dinner and got to know his friends. During lunch, he leaned down and whispered to me that I would pay for whatever he and his friends ordered.

I murmured “no” in response because I was so angry, but I believe he was counting on me to remain silent in front of his friends and the public.

He went on to say, “Remember, you have enough money to pay for everyone’s food.”

She lost her rage and returned home after paying her bill. “I was inside angry. Instead of getting furious and losing my cool. We divided the cost when we placed our initial order, so I had to wait for them to arrive before paying for mine, and I excused myself to use the bathroom. I crept out of there, got into my car, and drove home.

Her fiancé then texted and called to inquire about her location, to which she replied with the relevant information. My fiancé started calling and texting me, asking where I was. I responded to his text by telling him how much I resented being fooled into paying for his and his friends’ dinner, and how he had put me in this situation. I told him I was going home and stopped responding.

“An hour later, he told me that his friends believed I was acting badly and that he should “think” on the type of woman he wanted to marry.
