A royal expert has claimed that King Charles and Prince William are “terrified” of stripping Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles.

This revelation comes after the Sussexes’ private trip to Nigeria, which reportedly led to tension in Buckingham Palace. According to the expert, Charles and William have indeed discussed the subject, but they are hesitant to follow through because they believe such an act could backfire.

The Senior Royals Fear Stripping Harry And Meghan Of Their Titles Would Make The Situation Worse

Meghan and Harry’s recent trip to Nigeria has reportedly led to discussion among the senior royals about stripping the couple of their titles.

The duo stopped being working royals in 2020, but they still use their Duke and Duchess of Sussex title, which also appears on their official website.

While stripping Harry and Meghan of the titles isn’t impossible, a royal expert has claimed that King Charles and Prince William are hesitant to proceed due to fears of potential backlash on Buckingham Palace.

“They are terrified this would backfire and make the situation worse,” royal expert Tom Quinn told The Mirror. “The last thing they want is to give the renegade royals something else to complain about.”

He added, “William and his father know that even without their royal titles, Meghan and Harry would carry on traveling the world as if they were royals and most people in the world will still welcome them.”

King Charles And Prince William Were Enraged About The Sussexes’ Visit To Nigeria

According to the expert, the Sussexes’ visit to Nigeria deeply angered senior royals, particularly Charles, who was reportedly “angrier than anyone has ever seen him.”

Quinn claimed that the reason for such a reaction was because the couple approached their “private visit” to the country in a manner resembling an “official royal visit.”

He believed this was evidenced by the receptions they received and the visits they made to schools, charities, and hospitals for injured and disabled veterans.

The Palace also didn’t like that “Meghan and Harry’s speeches and their whole attitude” gave “the impression that they are still fully paid-up royals.”

Quinn continued, “For Charles and William, it’s as if Meghan and Harry are saying, ‘We don’t need your permission to be working royals — we will do it on our own terms whenever and wherever we like.'”

Royal Fans Claim Title Removal Won’t Change Anything

Several social media users have expressed their support for the Sussexes amid discussions about the potential removal of their titles.

A royal fan wrote, “We don’t love them for their titles. We love them because they are good people. Calling them Haz and Meg is only going to make them even more endearing. Unlike others, they don’t need a title to be someone. They are who they are.”

Another person commented, “Titles mean nothing. They will still do good in the world and [people] will still love them.”

A third user remarked, “This would cement the path to abolition. Probably accelerate it. When Harry eventually is awarded the Nobel peace prize for his invictus games work, uniting warriors worldwide, what will William do then?”

One more person noted, “It could do the opposite of what Charles intends. People who never paid attention to Harry and Meghan will feel they are being treated badly and be sympathetic. Charles should think carefully.”

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle May Visit Ghana In The Near Future

Following Meghan and Harry’s trip to Nigeria, another West African country is reportedly in talks with the couple for a tour.

According to reports, officials and leading icons in Ghana are “keen” for the duo to come and visit and are ready to pull out all the stops to make it happen.

“There is already a lot of talk and excitement in Ghana, everyone is so keen for Harry and Meghan to come and experience the great culture and warmth,” a source told The Mirror.

They added, “Harry certainly won’t be short of people to show him around and they will certainly roll out the red carpet for him…So perhaps it is only a matter of time before Harry and Meghan come out.”

If it happens, such a visit is expected to be private, similar to the trip to Nigeria, and may or may not last longer than the three days the couple spent in the country.

The Sussexes Gushed Over Their Trip To Nigeria

While in Nigeria, Harry and Meghan engaged in various activities, including attending a school where they discussed mental health stigma and visiting injured soldiers at a military hospital.

In an interview with People magazine, Meghan described the tour as “really meaningful,” emphasizing the significance of such trips in enabling them to focus “on the things that mean so much to us.”

The Duke of Sussex echoed his wife’s sentiments, saying, “You know what Africa means to me over the years. It is a very, very special place, and to be able to include Nigeria now, I’m very happy.”
