“Ms. Winfrey is recovering from a stomach virus and, on the advice of her doctor, received an IV for dehydration,” a spokesperson for the CNN star said in a statement Tuesday. “He is resting and feeling better every day.

Winfrey told her best friend and journalist in a video chat shared on Gayle King’s Instagram page that she “couldn’t keep enough water down to stay hydrated,” prompting her to seek medical attention.

King assured the audience that Winfrey would eventually be “fine” despite her health issues.

“I hope they don’t get mad at me for sharing that detail,” she added.

During a joint interview with the New York Times in January, Winfrey and King touted their strengths and talked about the reasons for their close friendship.

On the advice of a friend, Winfrey opted for a more informal party, as opposed to an elaborate one. She had a lot of fancy ideas for how to celebrate but decided to keep things simple.

“Finally take Wintley’s advice, my friend. ‘You’re too blessed to stress,’” he remarked. Enjoy the scent of your remarkable existence.”
