Losing a pet can be devastating. All of a sudden, the companion who was always by your side, your best friend, and a cherished family member is no longer there.
Scott Ewels, a car owner, experienced an overwhelming sense of grief when his beloved cat, Bear, passed away after being struck by a vehicle.
Amid all the sadness, he unexpectedly received a mysterious letter from a stranger, and what it contained brought him to tears.
A few years back, Scott Ewels lost his cherished cat Bear in an accident.
Bear and his sibling, Teddy, enjoyed exploring the neighborhood together, often staying out for hours at a time.
Scott had no idea that during their adventures, the two cats had made a new friend.
One day, after Bear had passed away, Teddy came back through his cat door. That’s when Scott noticed something attached to Teddy’s collar.
It was a note that read:
“Dear Owner: I’m your neighbor, living in 4. I’m also your cats’ close friends as they (2 cats) are used to coming to my room every day. But one of them, a bigger one has disappeared for two weeks. Is he OK? I’m so worried about him. He is so lovely cat and always touched my heart. Wish he is fine.”
When Scott read the letter, he couldn’t stop himself from tearing up.
“I wrote a note back to number 4, and posted it straight away, even as it was late in the evening. I mentioned that Bear had passed away, and was so glad that he had brought joy to their lives too. I included my email address, and she has since emailed us with pictures of Bear (and Teddy) in her house, and stories of their adventures with her,” Scott shared with The Dodo.
Losing a pet is always heartbreaking. But for Scott, the knowledge that his cat Bear was cherished by not just one, but two families provided him with added comfort.
Scott and the woman continue to stay in contact.
“She is now coming over tomorrow to visit Bear’s grave,” Scott shared with The Dodo.
It’s wonderful that Bear was able to bring joy to not just one, but two families. Please share!
