Prince William could ‘remove’ HRH title from Meghan and Harry when he’s king

Part 1 of 2

Prince William might reportedly “remove” Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s HRH titles once he becomes king.

This comes after reports that Meghan has been using the HRH style again, even though there was a previous agreement with the late Queen that she would not do so.

Is Meghan still using HRH?

After stepping back from royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan agreed not to use their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles for business or money-making purposes. However, they still officially hold the titles.

Recently, there’s been some controversy after reports claimed that Meghan has continued to use her HRH title in private.

This week, she made headlines again because of a gift basket she once sent to a friend. It appeared during a podcast episode where Meghan was having a conversation with her friend, Jamie Kern Lima.

A photo of the gift basket was shown, and it included a note signed: “With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.”

When Prince Charles becomes king, those titles are expected to be removed.

Since then, there’s been backlash about Meghan using the HRH title.

Still, people close to Meghan say that she and Harry are allowed to use their titles for personal gestures.

“Harry and Meghan retain their HRH titles; however, by agreement, they do not use them for commercial purposes,” they explained.

But according to a royal insider quoted by the Daily Beast, that view is “complete rubbish.”

Could Prince William strip Harry and Meghan of HRH titles?

Back in 2020, when Harry and Meghan stepped away from their royal duties, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying: “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family.”
