Kate and William’s decision to give up ‘live in servants’ sparks major theory

Part 1 of 2

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s upcoming relocation from Adelaide Cottage has sparked curiosity among royal watchers.

The couple, along with their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—are preparing to settle into Forest Lodge, a property within Windsor Great Park, just a short distance from their current residence.

From Adelaide Cottage to Forest Lodge

This move comes less than three years after the Wales family left Kensington Palace in London for Adelaide Cottage, a four-bedroom home.

Their new residence, Forest Lodge, is a 328-year-old red-brick property with eight bedrooms and sweeping views of both Berkshire and London. Located in a quieter corner of the 4,800-acre estate, it’s less than four miles away from Adelaide Cottage.

Reportedly, William and Kate view Forest Lodge as their “forever home.” In fact, insiders say they intend to remain there even after ascending to the throne, marking the first time a future King and Queen would live outside of a traditional royal palace or castle.

A Fresh Start

Although Forest Lodge is a larger, grander property, sources say the couple do not plan to have live-in staff. Their intention is to create a private family environment while leaving behind difficult memories associated with Adelaide Cottage.

“Windsor has become their home,” one source shared on August 18. “But during their years at Adelaide Cottage, there have been some really tough times. This move is their chance to start fresh—a long-term step toward building the life they see for themselves. It’s their forever home.”
