How close Meghan Markle is to becoming a billionaire following business ventures

Part 1 of 2

Meghan Markle has had a remarkable year, with the debut of her Netflix series, the launch of her lifestyle brand, and a new podcast project on the horizon.

The Duchess of Sussex is clearly not slowing down as she continues to grow her reported joint net worth of £46.5 million with husband Prince Harry. With her expanding portfolio, many are wondering just how close Meghan is to entering the billionaire ranks.

Prince Harry received an estimated £8 million from the estate of his mother, Princess Diana, which helped the couple maintain their lifestyle after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.

Inside Meghan and Harry’s luxurious home

The pair reside in an impressive Montecito mansion worth over £23 million. The property boasts 16 bedrooms, rose gardens, a swimming pool, and a tennis court.

Meghan previously reflected on purchasing the house shortly after relocating to the U.S., telling The Cut that owning it once felt out of reach.

“We didn’t have jobs, so we just were not going to come and see this house,” she recalled. “It wasn’t possible. It’s like when I was younger and you’re window shopping – it’s like, I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford. That doesn’t feel good.”

Meghan’s expanding media empire

The couple’s five-year Netflix deal, signed in 2021 and valued at around £80 million, gave a major boost to their financial standing. Through the platform, they released Harry & Meghan, a documentary chronicling their relationship and departure from the royal family.

Netflix also produced With Love, Meghan, a series where the Duchess invited celebrity guests to join her in cooking, crafting, and decorating. A second season has already been filmed, marking a notable win for the former Suits star.

In the podcasting space, Meghan and Harry launched Archetypes through a £15.5 million deal with Spotify, welcoming guests like Serena Williams and Mariah Carey. However, the partnership ended in 2023.

The couple released a joint statement saying they had “mutually agreed to part ways [with Spotify] and are proud of the series we made together.”
