King Charles Shows What He Truly Thinks of Sarah Ferguson After Her Divorce From Prince Andrew

Following the ongoing fallout from Prince Andrew’s controversial ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, King Charles appears to have run out of patience with his younger brother.

Tensions have reportedly escalated due to Andrew’s refusal to leave Royal Lodge, the home he shares with his former wife, Sarah Ferguson. Despite the Duke of York’s damaged reputation, the King seems to be taking a different approach with Ferguson—one aimed at helping restore her public image.

A Royal Comeback for the Duchess of York

Ferguson, the Duchess of York, recently made a high-profile appearance at Wimbledon on June 30 alongside her daughter, Princess Beatrice—her first in many years.

According to royal commentator Ephraim Hardcastle, this public outing is just one example of how King Charles is aiding in her reintegration into royal life. Writing for OK! Magazine, Hardcastle noted, “Sarah Ferguson’s grin from Wimbledon’s Royal Box… confirms her continued rehabilitation under King Charles.”

He added that her presence at Royal Ascot, one of the most prestigious events in the royal calendar, further underscored this shift. “She was also offered a seat in the carriage procession down the course, another privilege denied her since her 1996 divorce,” Hardcastle revealed. However, Ferguson reportedly turned down the offer—possibly out of sensitivity to Andrew’s situation.

A Stark Contrast with Prince Andrew’s Standing

Unlike Ferguson, Prince Andrew has seen his royal privileges steadily eroded. Though he was allowed to attend a pre-racing lunch during Royal Ascot, he was barred from taking part in the racing events themselves. According to insiders, “Andrew, who loved the pomp of the procession, was allowed at the pre-racing lunch but banned from attending the racing.”

Andrew officially stepped back from royal duties in 2019 amid mounting public pressure and was stripped of his remaining royal patronages and titles in 2022 by Queen Elizabeth II. In contrast, Ferguson has remained quietly loyal to her former husband, even through his most turbulent moments.

Support Through Personal Health Battles

One reason for Ferguson’s renewed acceptance within royal circles may be her recent health struggles and the openness with which she’s addressed them. In June 2023, she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, discovered during a routine mammogram. Just months later, in January 2024, she faced a second diagnosis—this time of skin cancer.

According to GB News, her candidness in discussing these experiences has helped reshape public perception. Speaking with The Times, Ferguson shared, “It was hard. I’m generally a positive person, but cancer is like a bomb going off in your life. I don’t mind admitting that my mind went to some dark places, reflecting on my own mortality.”

King Charles is said to have shown steady support during these difficult times, further signaling her gradual re-acceptance into royal life.

A Return to Royal Traditions and Public Appearances

Charles’s efforts to welcome Ferguson back into the fold have been quietly visible in recent years. In 2023, she joined the royal family’s traditional Christmas walk to church at Sandringham for the first time since the 1990s. She was also seen at the 2025 Easter Service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, alongside senior royals including Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward.

Her recent return to Wimbledon marked yet another milestone—it was her first time at the iconic tennis tournament in over 35 years, the last being in 1988, when she attended with the late Princess Diana.
