Meghan Markle embraced a cherished family tradition this weekend by celebrating Mothering Sunday in the UK, sharing a rare and intimate moment from her life with Prince Harry and their two children, five-year-old Prince Archie and three-year-old Princess Lilibet.
Although Mother’s Day is celebrated in May in the United States, the Duchess of Sussex marked the British occasion on March 30 with a touching Instagram post. On her newly launched account, Meghan posted a beautifully styled photo of what appeared to be a homemade citrus pie, adorned with slices of orange and topped with a delicate edible flower.
“Our family tradition. Mothering Sunday in the UK,” she wrote alongside the image, which charmed followers with its simple elegance and warm tribute to homely family rituals. The photo also seemed to include a subtle glimpse of her daughter Lilibet.
Though the image was modest, it spoke volumes—offering a rare look into the Sussexes’ home life, where kitchen time and hands-on parenting are part of the daily routine.
Since launching her Instagram earlier in 2025, Meghan has shared snippets of her domestic world, including images of baked goods, handwritten recipe cards, and relaxed outdoor moments. Among them were candid photos of Archie and Lilibet dusted in flour while baking cookies, making seasonal crafts, and helping prepare whimsical breakfasts.
Food and baking have always been close to Meghan’s heart, and she’s now taking pleasure in reconnecting with those interests. In a recent interview, the 43-year-old Duchess reflected on the joy of returning to her creative roots as her children grow.
“When your children get to a certain age — when you’re not just playing in the sandbox with them but almost playing in your own sandbox again — it’s super joyful,” she told People.
“As a woman, a mum and a wife, to be able to find yourself again — in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older — is a wonderful feeling.”
Family remains at the center of Meghan’s world. Alongside Harry, she has cultivated a warm, grounded environment for their children at their Montecito home, where nature walks, story time, and baking are daily rituals. Meghan is also a familiar face at local farmers’ markets and is known for making homemade jams with ingredients grown in their garden.
Last year, Meghan and Harry spent Mother’s Day in the US abroad, visiting Nigeria in May 2024 as part of their charitable work. The trip held personal meaning for Meghan, who shared her thoughts during an emotional speech.
“I am very, very grateful, I am very humbled, and today is Mother’s Day,” she said. “It feels appropriate, but though, of course, we are missing our children, I’m missing my babies, it feels very appropriate to be in the motherland and amongst family.”
