Prince William Is Inclined Toward Reconciling With Harry ⏤ but Not Without Some Conditions

After years of tension, Prince William’s attitude toward his younger brother, Prince Harry, may be softening — though any reconciliation would come with firm boundaries.

A source close to the Prince of Wales told National Examiner that while William “is not totally closed off to the idea of making peace with” Harry, such a step would need to be handled carefully and privately.

The brothers, once inseparable, have remained estranged since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020. But with Christmas approaching, William is said to recognize how much it would mean to both his father, King Charles, and his wife, Princess Kate, to see the family heal. “He knows how much it would mean to his father and [Princess] Kate, especially with Christmas fast approaching,” the insider revealed.

A Reconciliation on Strict Terms

If a meeting between the brothers were to happen, it would be strictly on William’s conditions. “He has no desire to pick up the phone and do this casually,” the source explained, adding that the future king would prefer a “supervised discussion” conducted “with total discretion.” Despite dealing with personal pressures following his candid comments on The Reluctant Traveler, William’s desire to mend the relationship appears sincere.

Still, skepticism persists within the royal circle. “A lot of courtiers still don’t trust Harry an inch,” the insider said, suggesting many palace officials believe William should “stand his ground and stay far away from the Sussexes.” Yet, both King Charles and Princess Kate reportedly continue to encourage William to take the first step, telling him that “enough is enough, and it’s high time for peace.”

King Charles’s Influence

Charles’s own efforts to repair the fractured family may have played a role in shaping William’s thinking. Just weeks ago, reports surfaced that the monarch had urged his eldest son to reconnect with Harry after holding a private meeting with the Duke — their first in 19 months. That encounter sparked renewed hope that the royal family might be inching toward reconciliation.

However, William declined to meet his brother during that time, even though he was just eight miles away attending an event at the Women’s Institute in Sunningdale.

Harry’s Changing Approach

As for the Duke of Sussex, sources say he may be more open to compromise. In the past, Harry insisted that he would not take part in family discussions without Meghan present, but insiders claim he “put that principle aside” when meeting his father — and might do the same for William.

Close friend Alex Rayner also believes a reunion between the brothers could happen soon. He told the Daily Mail, “As soon as the opportunity presents itself, we’ll see a wonderful embrace between the two brothers. Absolutely.”

Still, whether the once-close siblings can truly rebuild trust after years of estrangement remains uncertain.
