People are just realising why Melania Trump’s inauguration outfit looks so familiar

People are just starting to notice why Melania Trump’s outfit at the inauguration feels so familiar.

Earlier today (January 20), the soon-to-be First Lady of the United States was spotted alongside Donald Trump and their son, Barron, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lafayette Square, Washington D.C.

Melania stepped out in a striking black-and-white outfit, but it was her bold hat that truly grabbed the attention of social media users.

Many people took to social media to share their opinions about the outfit, and one X user, who clearly wasn’t impressed with the hat, criticized: “I don’t like the hat. You don’t wear a hat in a church. I’m old fashioned.”

On the other hand, many came to Melania’s defense, with another user commenting: “Melania’s hat! [fire emoji].”

Someone else excitedly exclaimed: “That hat!” while another admirer shared: “Love Melania’s hat! Why can’t we all wear hats & gloves again? So stylish.”

Another fan enthusiastically posted: “Living for Melania’s hat moment.”

Meanwhile, one more user praised the look by saying: “Melania’s 1920s style Gatsby hat is smoke show.”

The hat has sparked even more buzz online, with many drawing comparisons to Beyoncé’s iconic look from her Formation era.

The chart-topping track, featured on her 2016 Lemonade album, came with a music video where Beyoncé donned a striking wide-brimmed black hat that obscured much of her face—an unforgettable moment for fans.

Noticing the similarities, one fan jokingly referred to Melania as entering “her Lemonade era.”

“Ok ladies now let’s get in formation,” chimed in another, quoting a lyric from the song. Meanwhile, a third fan humorously added: “YALL HATERS CORNY WITH THAT ILLUMINATI MESS.”

A fourth person chimed in: “Not Melania gettin into formation.”

“Ok Melania about to get in formation,” another user remarked.

Speaking to Fox about her experience as First Lady, Melania reflected: “I feel I was always me the first time as well, I just feel that people didn’t accept me maybe.

“Maybe some people, they see me as just a wife of the president, but I’m standing on my own two feet, independent. I have my own thoughts.”

She elaborated: “I have my own yes and no. I don’t always agree with what my husband is saying or doing. And that’s OK.”

During another part of the conversation, Melania shared: “My first priority is, you know, to be a mum, to be a First Lady, to be a wife. And once we are in on Jan. 20, you serve the country.”
