What You’ll Need
- 4 plastic bottle caps (soda or water bottle caps)
- Metal frame of an old lamp (ideally with a flexible or articulated arm)
- Coaxial cable (from an old antenna or TV setup)
- Recycled wires (from chargers, appliances, or scrap electronics)
- Insulating tape
- Basic tools: pliers, wire strippers, scissors, screwdriver
- Non-metallic base: wood, thick cardboard, or plastic
- Punch or hot nail (to make holes in the caps)
How to Build It
1. Prepare the Caps
Make a small hole in the center of each plastic cap using a hot nail, punch, or hole punch. These caps will serve as connectors between the wires.
2. Build the Signal Pickup
- Connect two caps together with a piece of wire to form one pair.
- Repeat with the other two caps.
- Take the coaxial cable:

- Connect its metal shielding (mesh) to the other pair.
3. Mount on the Lamp Frame
