Five royals could soon lose their titles under ‘executive royal order’

Following Prince Andrew’s recent loss of his royal titles due to his controversial association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a royal expert now claims that up to five additional members of the Royal Family could face similar consequences in the near future.

Although Prince Andrew announced that he would “no longer use” his royal title, he still holds his dukedom and remains a prince. To fully strip him of these remaining titles would require an act of Parliament, a process that must be approved by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. According to ITV, Buckingham Palace is hesitant to use parliamentary time to pursue this.

Prince William Reportedly Ready to Take Action

However, royal expert Tom Sykes states that Prince William has no such reluctance and intends to formally remove Prince Andrew’s dukedom and HRH title once he becomes king. Speaking to The Daily Beast, Sykes said: “Prince William will strip Prince Andrew, along with all other non-working royals, of their HRHs and princely titles when he ascends to the throne, friends and allies of the Prince have said.”

He further explained that this change would be enacted through an executive royal order known as “letters patent,” which would then be ratified by Parliament during the early weeks of William’s reign as King William V.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie at Risk

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, despite having no involvement in their father’s scandal, are also likely to be affected. As neither sister is a working royal, they could lose their HRH status and princess titles under William’s leadership.

Beatrice, 37, is a mother of two and works as a strategist for the technology company Afiniti. Eugenie, 35, also a mother of two, works as a director at the Hauser & Wirth art gallery in Mayfair. Under William’s plan, both could be stripped of royal status due to their non-working roles.

Prince Harry Could Face Title Removal

One of the most controversial aspects of this potential reform is the inclusion of Prince Harry. William, 43, has reportedly remained distant from his younger brother since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to Montecito, California.

In their public statements, Harry and Meghan, 44, accused senior royals of mistreatment and claimed that William and Kate had been “bullying” Meghan. According to Sykes, royal insiders believe that William intends to remove both Harry and Meghan’s HRH titles and their dukedom, as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Also Affected

Harry and Meghan’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, received their royal titles at birth despite their parents stepping away from royal duties. However, under William’s plan, they too could lose their titles.

Sykes notes that William may take a softer approach with his niece and nephew, allowing them to retain their titles temporarily: “William’s own children may have their titles informally ‘parked’ until they become adults and can decide for themselves if they want to be full-time working royals or lead lives as private citizens.”
