Friend reveals Diana’s heart:breaking act just months before she d.i.e.d

Part 1 of 2

When Princess Diana and Prince Charles announced their engagement in 1981, the world was captivated. Many admired her beauty and grace, believing she was stepping into a fairytale life. What the public did not know was that the marriage was already shadowed by difficulties, and cracks had begun to show long before the wedding.

According to people close to Diana, including her astrologer Penny Thornton, problems surfaced early on. They claim the tension between the couple was evident even during their engagement. In one now-famous interview, when asked if they were in love, Diana answered yes, while Charles replied with the unsettling words, “Whatever in love means.” That comment deeply affected Diana, setting the tone for what was to come.

A marriage that never felt like home

What many called the wedding of the century eventually ended in separation and later divorce, after Queen Elizabeth encouraged both to make the split official. Despite her royal title, Diana felt increasingly isolated, especially during family gatherings. She admitted feeling like an outsider at Sandringham, describing the atmosphere as tense and unwelcoming.

Former royal chef Darren McGrady shared that Christmas was particularly lonely for Diana. While Prince William and Prince Harry spent the holiday at Sandringham, she often stayed alone. Out of kindness, she told staff to spend Christmas with their families, leaving her to eat whatever was left in the fridge. McGrady recalled how she would go for solitary walks, trying to find peace during a time that was supposed to be joyful.
