When We Landed, I Discovered He Was a Billionaire. But Before I Could Thank Him, His Security Team Showed Him a Photo of Us That Had Already Spread Online. Then He Turned to Me and Said, “Someone at This Airport Is Already Looking for You.” What I Discovered Next Left Me Speechless..

Part 2 of 3

I showed him the messages.

He looked concerned.

“Is that your husband?”

“We’re separated. He’s Poppy’s father.”

Wesley nodded without asking unnecessary questions.

As we entered the terminal, three members of his security team approached.

One woman showed him a photograph on her phone.

It was me.

My head rested against Wesley’s shoulder, and Poppy slept peacefully in my arms.

Someone on the plane had taken the picture.

It had already appeared online with a caption suggesting that Wesley was traveling with a mysterious woman and child.

Underneath, another person had posted my name.

Brenna Holloway.

Someone else claimed I had left Colorado with my daughter without informing her father.

I felt sick.

“That’s not what happened,” I whispered.

Wesley turned toward me.

“I believe you. But we need to understand how your information got there.”

Then Colton sent another message.

“I’m waiting outside. We need to talk.”

I stared at the screen.

He was in Columbus.

Somehow, he had followed us.

The Documents I Had Forgotten

Wesley’s team guided Poppy and me into a quiet airport lounge while they checked the situation.

I wanted to refuse his help.

I barely knew him, and I had promised myself that I would never depend entirely on another man again.

But Poppy needed feeding, and I needed a moment to think.

Wesley sat across from me.

“You don’t have to explain anything you’re not comfortable sharing,” he said. “But if someone is making you feel unsafe, we can help you contact the right people.”

I finally told him about my marriage.

About Colton controlling our money.

About the separation.

About the account I could no longer access.

Wesley listened without interrupting.

Then another message arrived.

“Remember those documents you signed after Poppy was born. You should have read them more carefully.”

I frowned.

A few weeks after Poppy’s birth, Colton had brought home a folder of paperwork.

He said the documents concerned health insurance, childcare benefits, and our household finances.

I had been exhausted.

I trusted him.

So I signed where he asked.

When Wesley learned this, he offered to connect me with an independent attorney.

“You can decide whether to speak with her,” he said. “She’ll represent your interests, not mine.”

I agreed.

Within an hour, attorney Sabrina Ellsworth joined us by video call.

After reviewing the documents I could access, she discovered something troubling.

A personal credit account worth $48,000 had been opened in my name.

I had never requested it.

The mailing address belonged to Colton’s consulting office.

Another document raised questions about how my consent regarding Poppy’s travel had been represented.

Sabrina explained that the original records would need to be examined before anyone could determine exactly what had happened.

I looked at the screen in disbelief.

“He told me those were ordinary family documents.”

Sabrina’s voice remained calm.

“Signing a document doesn’t automatically mean every use of it was properly authorized. We need to establish the facts.”

For the first time, I realized my marriage might have left me with problems I hadn’t even known existed.

The Truth Behind His Sudden Arrival

While Sabrina reviewed the paperwork, Wesley’s security team investigated how my identity had appeared online.

They discovered that Colton’s cousin, Tabitha, worked for a travel-services company and had access to certain customer information.

There were indications that my travel details had been improperly shared.

The company would need to investigate further.

Meanwhile, Colton kept sending messages.

“Stop making this difficult. Bring Poppy outside.”

Then:

“You signed the paperwork, Brenna. Don’t pretend you didn’t.”

Finally:

“Tell your new billionaire friend to stay out of our family business.”

Sabrina advised me to preserve the messages.

She also helped me contact the appropriate authorities about the disputed financial account and arrange legal guidance concerning Poppy.

Then Wesley received another update.

Colton had apparently contacted an online entertainment publication, offering a story that suggested I had deliberately traveled with Wesley to attract attention.

He wanted people to believe that our meeting had been planned.

I finally understood why he was so determined to reach me.

He wasn’t simply concerned about where I had gone.

He wanted to control how everyone interpreted my departure.

For years, I had allowed him to explain our marriage to other people while I remained silent.

I wasn’t going to do that anymore.

“I’m not going outside to meet him alone,” I told Sabrina.

“That’s a reasonable decision,” she replied. “We’ll handle the next steps properly.”

Wesley looked relieved.

“Whatever you decide, Brenna, it should be your decision.”

Those words meant more than he realized.

The Meeting He Thought He Could Control

Later that afternoon, Colton arrived at a private meeting room with his mother, Darlene.

The meeting had been arranged through legal representatives, and I agreed to attend only because Sabrina’s local associate would be present.

Darlene entered first.

She wore an elegant cream jacket and carried herself with the same confidence I remembered from every family gathering.

“Brenna, sweetheart, this has become a terrible misunderstanding. Let’s take Poppy home and discuss everything calmly.”

I held my daughter closer.

“I’m not returning to Denver today.”

Darlene looked surprised.

Then Colton entered.

His expression was controlled, almost pleasant.

“Brenna, you’ve made your point. We can work this out privately.”

I shook my head.

“We can discuss the important issues with the attorneys present.”

His eyes moved toward Wesley.

“So this is how things are now? You meet a wealthy stranger on an airplane, and suddenly he’s making decisions about our daughter?”

Wesley remained quiet.

I answered instead.

“Wesley isn’t making decisions about Poppy. I am.”

Colton’s smile faded.

“You know perfectly well that you can’t just walk away from your responsibilities.”

“I haven’t walked away from them. I’ve been caring for our daughter every day.”

Sabrina’s associate placed several documents on the table.

She explained that questions had been raised about the financial account and certain paperwork Colton had presented to me.

Darlene turned toward her son.

“Colton, what paperwork is she talking about?”

“Mom, it’s complicated.”

The attorney then referred to the messages Colton had sent that morning.

One message stated that I had signed whatever he placed in front of me.

Another suggested he could influence how the situation appeared publicly.

Darlene looked deeply unsettled.

“Colton, did you open an account in her name?”

He shifted in his chair.

“I handled our family finances. That’s all.”

The attorney explained that the account’s authorization would be independently investigated.
