Kate Middleton knocked off top spot as the UK’s favourite royal

A new YouGov survey has shaken up the royal family’s popularity rankings, pushing Kate Middleton off the top spot for the first time this year.

Prince William now leads the so-called “royal league table,” with 74 percent of Britons holding a positive opinion of the future king. Kate follows closely behind at 71 percent, while Princess Anne takes third place with 70 percent.

The same poll also asked voters whether the United Kingdom should keep the monarchy or replace it with an elected head of state. Nearly two-thirds — 65 percent — said the monarchy should remain, 23 percent preferred an elected system, and 12 percent were undecided.

At the opposite end of the table, Prince Andrew remains the least popular royal, with only 5 percent support. His low standing follows renewed allegations in a recent book that he knew convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for much longer than previously admitted — accusations Andrew has firmly denied.

Most popular royals ranked, according to YouGov:

  • Prince William – 74%
  • Catherine, Princess of Wales – 71%
  • Princess Anne – 70%
  • The royal family in general – 62%
  • King Charles – 59%
  • The institution of the monarchy in general – 58%
  • Prince Edward – 52%
  • Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh – 50%
  • Camilla, Queen Consort – 43%
  • Princess Eugenie – 39%
  • Princess Beatrice – 39%
  • Prince Harry – 28%
  • Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – 20%
  • Prince Andrew – 5%
