King Charles’ bold plan for Prince Louis: He might follow in his grandfather’s footsteps with royal shake-up

King Charles and Camilla’s coronation on May 6 will have most family members in attendance, but Prince Harry and Meghan’s presence remains uncertain.

Leaked documents reveal how the event will unfold, with Charles’ three grandchildren, including Prince Louis, playing a role in the procession. While Prince George is set to be king, Prince Louis’ future remains unclear, though Charles may have a special plan for him.

The coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey, with only senior royals participating. Non-working royals, including Harry, Meghan, and Prince Andrew, will not be involved.

Besides the debate and many reports about Harry and Meghan’s “be or not to be” showing at the coronation, another hot topic has been the potential involvement of Prince William’s eldest son, Prince George.

Which royal will attend King Charles’ coronation

Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children will join King Charles and Camilla in the coronation procession, alongside 15 senior royals. Camilla’s grandchildren are also expected to have a key role.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received an invitation but have yet to respond. Reports suggest they may not receive a warm welcome from some royal family members.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, a royal family friend said that Harry and Meghan would be given the “cold shoulder” by many relatives.

“One said to me, ‘I hope they’ll be seated in Iceland,’” the friend to the family said.

William & Kate “worried” about Prince George’s role at coronation

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will attend King Charles’s coronation, marking Louis’s first major royal event. However, Archie and Lilibet are reportedly not invited due to their young age.

George may have a significant role in the ceremony, but this has caused concerns for William and Kate, who worry about the pressure on him. The royal children are expected to appear publicly during the event and on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

According to royal commentator and author Tom Quinn, William and Kate are worried that the pressure might be too much for the young prince.

“I’ve heard from my contacts that there is a bit of an argument going on about whether George should play a more formal role,” he told Express. “I’ve heard that Kate and William are worried that it will be too much for him.”

Prince Louis – first major royal engagement

Prince Louis, turning five on April 28, will make his first major royal appearance alongside his family. Though far from the throne, King Charles may have plans for his future.

Recently, King Charles granted his brother, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh title, continuing Prince Philip’s legacy. This move hints at potential future roles for younger royals like Louis.

Prince Edward was handed the title on his 59th birthday. He will hold the title his entire life, while his son, James, also known as Viscount Severn, now becomes the Earl of Wessex.

King Charles’ plan: Louis to become Duke of Edinburgh?

King Charles has honored Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s wish by granting Prince Edward the Duke of Edinburgh title.

When Prince Philip passed in 2021, the title went to Charles but reverted to the Crown when he became king. Now, Charles has chosen Edward to hold it for life.

However, the title is not hereditary. Upon Edward’s passing, it returns to the Crown, and Prince Louis could be next in line. Royal expert Richard Kay previously suggested Charles prefers a smaller monarchy and may plan for Louis to inherit the title in the future.

There will likely be many royal duties for Pince Louis to engage in in the future, though some aren’t sure that this is for the best. In an interview with The Telegraph to promote his book, Spare, Harry spoke about Charlotte and Louis, revealing that he fears for their future.

Kate feeling “sadness” about Louis growing up

Prince Louis continues to charm royal fans, despite missing the Queen’s funeral. At the family’s Christmas service in Sandringham, his outfit sparked curiosity, but he appeared cheerful, even accepting a gift from a well-wisher.

With Louis nearing five, Kate Middleton seems nostalgic about his early years. For Mother’s Day, she shared photos, including one where she cradled him. Body language expert Judi James noted it highlighted Kate’s emotional side, cherishing her bond with her youngest while embracing his growing independence.

“If he is going to be her last child, these feelings of sadness mixed with love could be magnified for her, too,” she concluded.

“He’s a big boy now”

During a visit to the Royal Surrey County Hospital last October, Kate fondly recalled how fast Prince Louis was growing, saying, “I keep thinking Louis is a baby, but he’s a big boy now.”

She previously expressed similar sentiments in 2022, telling a passerby, “I keep thinking Louis is my baby, but he’s a proper boy now.”
