Major royal takes title of the best-dressed person in Britain – and it’s not Kate Middleton

Society bible Tatler Magazine has compiled a list of their best-dressed people in Britain in 2024 – and it is an unlikely member of the Royal Family who has scooped the top spot, fighting off stiff competition from Cruz Beckham and the girlfriend of Jack Grealish, Sasha Atwood

The best-dressed person in Britain in 2024 has been named – and an unlikely royal has scooped the crown.

For many, the wardrobe of the Princess of Wales is the envy of many, with fans often desperate to emulate her looks. But it’s not Kate, who has been named the best-dressed by society bible Tatler magazine. In fact, it is one royal who was once cruelly the subject of much jest due to her fashion choices – Princess Beatrice.

The 35-year-old has been dubbed the ‘Princess of Perfection’ after taking the top spot, beating the likes of David and Victoria Beckham’s youngest son Cruz and Sasha Atwood, the glamorous girlfriend of football star Jack Grealish.

The magazine describes Beatrice as a “beacon of sartorial elegance” and the “pinnacle of contemporary splendour”. It explains: “Once the subject of much jest thanks to that Philip Treacy hat at the Prince and Princess of Wales’s wedding (the masses weren’t ready for millinery that marvellous), Beatrice has since become a beacon of sartorial elegance, pairing vintage-inspired cuts with fresh-from-the-catwalk glamour.

“Resplendent in Richard Quinn, mesmerising in Monique Lhuillier or beaming in Beulah London, the princess is the pinnacle of contemporary splendour.”

Beatrice and husband Edo have been at several of the biggest events of the summer season, where she had won plaudits for her outfits. At Royal Ascot she wore an elegant floral Emilia Wickstead dress, at Wimbledon, she stunned in Monique Lhuillier, and during a laid-back appearance at Glastonbury, she wore pink hoodie.

Beatrice’s major style transformation seems to be down to her new stylist, the aptly-named Olivia Buckingham, who is described as ‘society’s secret weapon’. Since teaming up with Beatrice, she has introduced designers including edgy The Vampire’s Wife into the royal’s wardrobe and encouraged her to simplify her outfits. She told Prestige: “If clothes can make a woman feel empowered and confident, then that’s what clothes should be used for.”

Second place in the Tatler ranking is fashion designer Jade Holland Cooper, followed by Cruz Beckham, socialite Lord William Gordon-Lennox and then Queen Camilla’s younger sister, Annabel Elliot in fifth place.

Sixth place is taken by another fashion designer, Anu Hinduja, while seventh is Sasha Atwood. Rounding off the top 10 are Lucy Van Straubenzee, a pal of William and Kate, who wowed in blue at the Duke of Westminster’s wedding; Chelsea fullback Ben Chilwell and Victoria Starmer, the wife of new Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
