Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Make Unexpected Appearance at Vancouver Hockey Game

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle embraced the Canadian spirit with a night of ice hockey, attending an NHL game in Vancouver on Saturday, February 8, after launching the 2025 Invictus Games.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted at Rogers Arena for the matchup between the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Before the game, Prince Harry took to the ice for the ceremonial puck drop, accompanied by Canadian Invictus team members Lee Jarratt and Andre Crocker. This wasn’t his first time performing the honor—he had previously done so before the Canucks’ game against the San Jose Sharks in November 2023.

Later, Meghan and Harry were seen in the stands, cozied up together as they enjoyed the game. Meghan shared a video on her Instagram Stories, originally posted by the Canucks and NHL, capturing the couple’s surprise appearance. The clip showed them greeting players backstage and walking hand-in-hand down a hallway.

For the evening, Meghan wore a long black coat with dark red lapels, reminiscent of the one she had worn during her first royal tour with Harry in Sydney in 2018. She paired it with a black high-neck top, jeans, and boots. Meanwhile, Harry opted for a casual yet polished look, wearing a gray sweater over a white shirt, layered with a peacoat and jeans.

Their outing at the hockey game followed their appearance at the 2025 Invictus Games opening ceremony earlier that day. Meghan shared moments from the event on her Instagram Stories, including a clip of the couple riding a golf cart backstage at BC Place, waving to Invictus Games participants before watching Coldplay’s Chris Martin perform.

During the ceremony, Harry and Meghan shared a brief kiss in the stands before he took center stage to deliver a speech. Addressing the Canadian crowd, Harry said, “Hello Canada and Bienvenue!

So, the Toronto Games in 2017 were incredible, and I’m told there is no rivalry between east and west coast, especially when it comes to sport, so I have a question for you Vancouver: Are you ready to show Toronto — and the world — how the Games are done?”

The Invictus Games event marked Harry and Meghan’s first official joint appearance since their trip to Colombia in August. Their most recent public outing was in January when they visited the World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, California, to help distribute food and supplies to victims of the Eaton Fire.
