Meghan Markle is ‘raging’ as Princess Charlotte could ‘inherit Diana heirloom over Lilibet’

Spencer Tiara Linked to Princess Charlotte

Recent speculation suggested Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was upset over the possibility that her daughter, Princess Lilibet, could be overlooked for a royal heirloom in favour of her cousin, Princess Charlotte. The heirloom in question is the Spencer Tiara, famously worn by Princess Diana at her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles. The gold-mounted piece is adorned with rose-cut, cushion, and pear-shaped diamonds, with a garland design featuring a central heart flanked by scrolls, flowers, and stars.

The tiara is currently in the possession of Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, who is said to be its custodian. Reports have claimed that Prince William has enquired about Charlotte inheriting it in the future, given her public role as Diana’s granddaughter and her place in the line of succession.

Why Charlotte Could Be the ‘Natural Choice’

Jewellery expert Maxwell Stone has said Princess Charlotte “embodies her grandmother’s legacy in a very public way” and could be the most likely royal to wear the tiara on formal occasions, including a future wedding. By contrast, Princess Lilibet, raised outside traditional royal circles, is seen as less tied to royal customs, which could make access to the tiara “less straightforward.” Sources suggested this might have angered Meghan, with one insider claiming she viewed it as “another snub” to her and her children.

Duchess’s Spokesperson Responds

The Spencer Tiara was last seen in public in 2018, worn by Diana’s niece Celia McCorquodale. Despite the online claims, a representative for Meghan Markle has dismissed the story, telling Royal Insider: “This is categorically untrue.”
