The Duchess of Sussex celebrated the first day of spring by sharing a rare snapshot of Princess Lilibet—but it wasn’t the basket of strawberries in the foreground that caught people’s attention. Instead, a subtle detail in the background had netizens talking.
Meghan Markle posted the sweet photo on Instagram on March 21, featuring Princess Lilibet carrying a basket of strawberries outdoors. Her tiny feet peeked out from beneath the basket, adding to the charm of the image.
“Cheers to the first day of spring!” the Duchess captioned the post. In the background, a foot—presumably belonging to Prince Archie—could also be seen behind his sister. However, while the image didn’t reveal any faces, it quickly sparked discussion for another unexpected reason: Lilibet’s feet.
When someone asked what was so odd about the post that had everyone talking, another user responded, “The feet and body don’t match up.”
One person pointed out, “Look at the feet UNDER the strawberry basket. They do not appear attached to the body holding the basket.”
Another user simply wrote, “Weird feet under the strawberry container,” while someone else added, “Yep, totally photoshopped as the feet are facing the wrong way.”
More people questioned the image, noting that the visible feet and body shape didn’t seem to align with what would be expected for children Lilibet and Archie’s ages. Some speculated that the kids appeared older than they actually are, while others wondered why such unclear photos were shared in the first place.
The royal couple’s children have found themselves in the spotlight before because of their appearance. Back in early March, Meghan posted a compilation video of a family baking session with Prince Harry and their kids. However, fans were quick to notice and comment on how much Archie and Lilibet had changed, especially in terms of their hair and size.
Meghan captioned the video, “When making thumbprint cookies at home becomes a family affair! Thanks @heartmom & @clarewaightkeller for the love and extra set of hands!.”
In the video, a girl resembling Lilibet joins the baking session, wearing purple pants and a headband. Meghan kisses Archie, and their dog, Pula, briefly appears. Friends like Kelly McKee Zajfen and designer Clare Waight Keller also participate. The thumbprint cookies, made with Meghan’s raspberry jam, look golden and glossy. Fans reacted, with some questioning Archie’s appearance, calling it inconsistent or even “fake.”

People also questioned their sizes, with one person asking, “Wonder why the girl looked bigger than the boy.” Another skeptical commenter remarked, “That does not look like a 3 year old girl or 5 years old boy.” Meanwhile, a fan speculated, “Photoshopped these are different child every time!”

A sharp-eyed observer noticed a difference in hairstyle, commenting, “Wow. Last Halloween his hair was very very curly. Now straight as a board. Interesting.”
Someone with a similar perspective wrote, “Blonde hair but she says Lilibet has red hair?”
Meanwhile, another user offered a different opinion, stating, “He has red hair as his dad, I see.”
Meghan and Harry have largely kept Archie and Princess Lilibet away from the public spotlight. However, since launching her new Instagram account in January 2025, the Duchess has started sharing glimpses of their children on social media.
