Meghan Markle shares unseen snaps of Archie and Lilibet as she suffers heartache

Meghan Markle recently revealed that her dog, Guy, had passed away. To honor his memory, she shared a heartfelt compilation video on social media.

The Duchess of Sussex included rare glimpses of her children, Archie and Lilibet, in the tribute video she posted about Guy on her newly created Instagram page. The video featured various clips and pictures of Guy with Meghan, Prince Harry, and their children. In one scene, Prince Harry is seen with six-year-old Archie and Guy.

In the video, Archie is holding Guy’s leash as they take a walk on a sunny day. Another image shows Meghan cradling three-year-old Lilibet while the family’s dogs rest around them on a picnic blanket. In one clip, Archie can be heard saying, “He’s going to fall,” while sitting in the car with his mother and Guy. Meghan reassures him, saying the dog is safe.

Meghan adopted Guy from a rescue center in Canada in 2015 after he had been in a kill shelter in Kentucky, where he was given only a few days to live. She shared in the caption, “I swooped him up and fell in love. They called him ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

She added, “If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him—and on The Tig too. He was with me through everything: Suits, getting engaged (and married), becoming a mom. He was there through the quiet, the chaos, the calm, and the comfort. He endured a terrible accident just before I moved to the UK, which left him needing surgery for months.”

Meghan recounted how doctors initially believed Guy would never walk again, but Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick had hope. “H and I would drive late at night to visit Guy as he recovered in Surrey. I’m eternally grateful to Noel and his team, the Queen West Animal Hospital in Toronto, our current vets, and my friends and community. Thank you for loving him.”

She continued, “Because many of you will see Guy in this new series, I hope you’ll understand why his loss devastates me. Maybe you’ll fall a little in love with him too. I’ve cried countless tears—the kind that make you stand in the shower, hoping the water will wash away the pain. But they don’t. And that’s okay too.”

“Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know,” she concluded.

Meghan and Harry have previously shared endearing details about their children. Harry once noted that Lilibet resembles his late mother, Princess Diana, expressing his joy that the Spencer genes had been passed on. “I see a lot of my wife in Archie and a lot of my mum in Lilibet,” Harry shared in their Netflix series about their love story.

He remarked that Lilibet is “very Spencer-like,” pointing out her blue eyes and “golden, reddish hair.” During his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Harry joked about the strong “ginger gene” and the “very, very strong Spencer gene,” again drawing a connection between Lilibet and Diana.
