Prince Harry says he wants ‘reconciliation’ with his family

Part 2 of 2

Prince Harry revealed that he never asked his father, King Charles, to intervene in the security dispute. Instead, he requested that the King step aside and allow experts to handle the matter. He emphasized that every visit to the UK still involves the royal household and the Ravec committee, with no input from him in those decisions.

When asked about his current security situation, Harry expressed his concerns, saying that everything about his safety felt unsafe. He shared that, during the legal process, he uncovered unsettling truths, particularly about the royal household’s role on the Ravec committee, which was not disclosed to him until his lawyer revealed it during the case.

In a revealing statement, Harry said that he cannot envision a scenario in which he would bring his wife, Meghan, and their children back to the UK, expressing sadness that his children will miss out on experiencing his homeland.

Prince Harry lost his legal battle for taxpayer-funded armed police protection when in the UK, resulting in a £1.5 million cost for him. The Duke of Sussex had claimed that the removal of his security left his life at risk, but the court ruled that his grievance did not translate into a legal argument to challenge the decision.

Harry had argued that the decision to downgrade his security was unjustified and that he was being unfairly treated since stepping down from royal duties in 2020. The judge, Sir Geoffrey Vos, concluded that the removal of security was a predictable reaction after Harry left the UK. He dismissed Harry’s appeal, stating that the comparison with other VIPs did not add anything to the legal case.

As a result, Harry and his family, including Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet, will not receive automatic armed protection when visiting the UK. The Home Secretary is calling for Harry to cover the £1.5 million in costs for both sides.
