Put Salt in Your Shampoo Before Showering

We all know salt as a go-to for flavoring our food, but did you know it has a ton of other surprising uses too? Beyond the kitchen, salt can be a real game-changer in your beauty routine. Today, we’re sharing a simple yet powerful trick that involves salt—and it might just be the solution to some of your biggest hair problems.

Boost Your Beauty Products with a Pinch of Salt

If you already use facial cleansers or creams, try adding a little salt to them. It can boost their performance and help them work more effectively. Got greasy hair? Just mix some salt into your shampoo—it’s an easy way to cut down on oil and leave your hair feeling refreshed.

Say Goodbye to Greasy Hair

Oily hair is often caused by overactive oil glands on the scalp. But don’t worry—salt has your back. To tackle this issue, simply stir 2 to 3 tablespoons of salt into your shampoo. Wash your hair like you normally would, and after just a few washes, you’ll likely notice a big difference. Your hair will look healthier and feel less greasy.

Banish Dandruff Naturally

Dandruff is basically a buildup of dead skin cells on your scalp. Salt can help with that too! It encourages better blood flow, which is essential for scalp health, and also helps remove flakes and fend off fungal growth. To use it, part your hair into sections and sprinkle 1 or 2 teaspoons of salt directly onto your scalp. Using wet fingers, gently massage it in for about 10 minutes. Then wash your hair as usual.

Want Your Hair to Grow Faster?

Here’s a lesser-known tip: sea salt can help boost hair growth. If you’re dealing with hair loss (or alopecia), this natural remedy might be just what you need. Start by washing your hair normally. Then, while your scalp is still damp, massage in sea salt for about 10–15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Doing this twice a week for two months could lead to some pretty impressive results.

Salt for Soft, Smooth Skin

Salt isn’t just for your hair—it works wonders on your skin too. For a simple DIY body scrub, combine coarse sea salt with 2 teaspoons of coconut oil. Mix it well, then gently rub it onto your skin using circular motions. This will help slough off dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling soft and rejuvenated. Rinse off with your regular body wash.

Soothe Sensitive Skin with a Balancing Mask

If your skin is easily irritated, try making a calming face mask. It’ll help control oil, soothe inflammation, and hydrate dry areas. Mix 2 teaspoons of sea salt with 4 teaspoons of raw honey. Apply the mixture to your clean, dry face—avoiding the eyes—and let it sit for 10–15 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water.

Try a Salt-Based Facial Toner

Salt can even act as a natural facial toner. It penetrates deep into your pores to clean them out while helping to balance oil levels and fight acne-causing bacteria. To make your own, mix 1 teaspoon of sea salt with 4 ounces of warm water. Pour it into a spray bottle and mist your clean, dry face once or twice a day (avoiding your eyes, of course).
