Queen Elizabeth ‘mocked’ Melania Trump with impersonation

Donald Trump has shared a complex and sometimes controversial relationship with the British Royal Family over the years—one marked by both high-profile encounters and behind-the-scenes drama.

During his presidency, Trump and his wife Melania had several meetings with the British monarchy, producing mixed outcomes. Queen Elizabeth reportedly found Trump “rude,” and Melania, too, was said to have been the subject of some royal mockery. A royal expert even claimed the late monarch once did an impression of the former First Lady.

Trump, throughout his time in public life, has met countless world leaders, dignitaries, and royals. After taking office in 2016, one of his significant international visits was to Buckingham Palace, where he met Queen Elizabeth II.

Their first meeting took place in 2018. While the specifics of what occurred behind palace walls remain largely undisclosed, accordingCraig Brown the queen did not hold Trump in high regard.

“Over the course of her reign, Her Majesty entertained many controversial foreign leaders, including Bashar al-Assad, Robert Mugabe, Idi Amin, Donald Trump, Emperor Hirohito and Vladimir Putin,” Brown wrote. “She may not have found their company convivial; upon their departure, she may even have voiced a discreet word of disapproval.”

Brown added that, “A few weeks after President Trump’s visit, for instance, she confided in one lunch guest that she found him ‘very rude’: she particularly disliked the way he couldn’t stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting.”

Queen Elizabeth’s Impression of Melania Trump

Craig Brown also revealed the queen’s view of Melania, writing: “She also believed President Trump ‘must have some sort of arrangement’ with his wife Melania, or else why would she have remained married to him?”

Trump, however, had a very different perspective. Speaking to the Daily Mail, he denied Brown’s claims, calling them “totally false” and dismissing the author as a “sleaze bag.”

“I have no idea who the writer is, but it was really just the opposite,” Trump said. “I had a great relationship with the queen. She liked me and I liked her. We spent hours together at a state dinner. She was a fantastic woman. I think it’s a shame that a sleaze bag can write an article that’s totally false. In fact, I’ve heard always the opposite.”

He went further, claiming, “I heard I was her favorite president, and you’ve heard that too. She would say it to a lot of people.”

Following the queen’s death in 2022, Trump paid tribute, remembering her for her “generous friendship, great wisdom and wonderful sense of humour.”

Royal Insider Says Queen Impersonated Melania

Known for her wit and clever use of language, Queen Elizabeth was also skilled in impersonations, according to royal commentator Ephraim Hardcastle. He claimed that in her later years, the queen enjoyed mimicking both Donald and Melania Trump.

Hardcastle described one impersonation in particular: “The late Queen Elizabeth, who hosted Donald Trump three times in 18 months, became adept at impersonating the US President. Less known, however, is that the monarch also had a take on his rarely heard wife Melania.

A source, who was present when she was asked to render the First Lady, says that HM would go silent, put on a bored face and eventually mutter: ‘I want to be alone’ à la Marlene Dietrich. It seems the Queen felt sorry for the latest Mrs Trump.”

Future Visits and Royal Connections

It’s uncertain when the Trumps will next visit the UK and potentially meet with the Royal Family again. Recently, Prince William had an opportunity to connect with Donald Trump while representing King Charles at the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris—a role he assumed as Charles continues cancer treatment.

However, not all royal relationships with Trump have been smooth. Prince Harry came under scrutiny for potentially misleading U.S. authorities about past drug use in his visa application. Trump once suggested he might deport Harry if those claims were confirmed, though he later backtracked.

“I don’t want to do that,” Trump said. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

Melania’s Lip-Twitching Draws Attention

After Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, Melania largely stayed out of the spotlight. She returned to Washington for Trump’s congressional address, but during the speech, social media users noticed a peculiar detail—her lips were twitching.

“Melania is doing that lip thing again,” one user observed. Similar behavior had been noticed back in January when she was traveling with Trump.

Reactions varied online, with some questioning, “Is she OK?” Others speculated she appeared to be “hissing,” “growling,” or even “snarling.”

According to Psychology Today, lip twitching can be a response to emotional distress or stress. It noted that when under pressure, people might experience involuntary muscle movements around the mouth—what some see as nervous tics or symptoms of internal tension.

“When some people are nervous or stressed, their lips will twitch or move about erratically… or visibly distort or contort uncontrollably,” the site explained. “In some cases, when people are holding back from crying, their lips may quiver, blush red, pout, or vibrate just enough to communicate that they are about to cry or they are emotionally distraught.”

It added that because lips are highly sensitive and rich in nerves, they often react instantly to emotional shifts. “Under extreme stress, they are compressed tightly together or are pulled into the mouth, and they literally disappear.”
