Prince William released a sweet new picture with his children in honour of Father’s Day on June 16 – here’s some things you may have missed in the adorable shot.
Prince William posed alongside his three young children for a picture that was posted to mark Father’s Day this weekend.
The image, which is said to have been taken last month, shows all four of them facing away from the camera and looking out at the blue sky and sea in Norfolk – which sparked general interest.
The idea of the royals turning away from the photographer speaks to the “intimacy” of the family, according to one body language expert.
Despite some interest in the nature of their poses, royal fans were delighted by the release, with many describing it as “beautiful” and a “lovely photo”.
Here Express.co.uk looks at three things you may have missed from the sweet new family picture.
The children were behind it
George, Charlotte and Louis made a royal first on Sunday as they shared a personalised message for Father’s Day.
Instead of a generic Father’s Day that has come in previous years, the message was signed off with the children’s initials – something that is often done by both William and their mother, the Princess of Wales.
The sweet but simple message read: “We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day [pink-heart emoji] G, C & L.”
William undoubtedly shares a sweet bond with his three little ones, with their closeness displayed at many royal appearances – such as Trooping the Colour on Saturday.
The proud “Papa” could be seen sharing a moment with his eldest son, as the father-son duo chatted on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Who took the sweet picture?
The Princess of Wales is the photographer behind the sweet new picture of her husband and their children – as credited on their Instagram account.
Princess Kate is said to have taken the shot during a visit to Norfolk last month.
Kate, who made her first public appearance since Christmas Day in London on June 15, is known for her keen interest in photography.
She is said to have been interested in photography since her days as a student. Her passion has continued despite a photo editing drama that saw six global picture agencies withdraw the family’s official Mother’s Day photo over fears it had been “manipulated”.
Where was the picture taken?
It remains unknown who chose the location of the shot, but William appears to have sent a touching tribute to his wife with the new release.
The photo appears to have been taken at a beach near Anmer Hall – their holiday home in Nolfork – during the school holidays last month.
The same location was used a touching video posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s 10th wedding anniversary in 2021.
In the anniversary video, the couple can be seen playing with their children and enjoying quality family time.
