The 48-year-old golfer visited the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando on December 21, 2024, joined by his 17-year-old daughter, who served as his caddie, and his 15-year-old son.
Tiger Woods made his return to the golf course alongside his children, Sam and Charlie, drawing attention from fans who noticed how much Sam resembles her mother, Elin Nordegren.
Tiger and Charlie participated in the 2024 PNC Championship, upholding a tradition they’ve followed for several years. Meanwhile, Sam took on her second year as her father’s caddie after making her debut at the event the previous year.
The golfer and his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, whom he married in 2004 and divorced in 2010, had children together. Sam was born in 2007 and Charlie in 2009.
Fans were thrilled to see Charlie and Sam, with many quickly starting comparisons about who the kids resembled, particularly Sam, as they speculated whether she took after her mom or dad. One fan immediately pointed out Sam’s resemblance to her mother, saying, “Daughter looks like Elin. Beautiful like her mama.” Another agreed, commenting, “She looks like her mama.”
Others noticed the family likeness, with one saying, “Great looking kids. She looks so much like her mom.” Another fan remarked, “Such cute kids! They look like their mother,” while another added, “Look like their Mom. Beautiful kids.”
However, not everyone saw the same resemblance. One fan said, “The girl looks exactly like her dad.” Another pointed out a feature they loved, commenting, “Wow she definitely has her Dad’s smile.” Another fan agreed, noting, “Wow his daughter looks just like him. Son is a good golfer.”
One fan admired the family’s appearance, saying, “His children are gorgeous, they resemble both parents.” Another fan highlighted the family’s closeness, commenting, “A proud father. Kudos to their mother as well.”
A fan was particularly impressed by Sam, saying, “He’s daughter tho.” Lastly, another fan appreciated the family’s togetherness, noting, “It is great to see this family playing golf together. It shows that they love spending this time as a family unit.”
Sam, born on June 18, 2007, was named Sam Alexis to honor both her parents’ families and her late grandfather. Her father shared that the name was connected to his late father, who always called him Sam instead of Tiger.
“He rarely ever called me Tiger. I would ask him, ‘Why don’t you ever call me Tiger?’ He says, ‘Well, you look more like a Sam,'” the golfer explained. For Tiger Woods, the name Sam was fitting for his daughter, as she was born just a day after Father’s Day.
Sam has great admiration for her father, often expressing her pride. During the Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony in March 2022, Sam praised her father’s resilience. She celebrated his remarkable accomplishments, including being the first Black and Asian golfer to win a major, securing his fifth Masters after undergoing back surgeries, and walking again just months after a life-altering crash.

Today, Sam has decided to take a different route than her brother, Charlie, choosing not to pursue a career in golf like her father. Tiger once shared that Sam has a “negative connotation” towards the sport, as it was often the reason he was absent during her childhood.
During the peak of his career, Tiger was often away for tournaments, leaving young Sam at home. However, over time, they have strengthened their relationship through shared hobbies beyond golf, while Charlie and Tiger continue to enjoy their time together on the golf course.
Charlie stole the spotlight during the final round of the 2024 PNC Championship by making his first-ever hole-in-one at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Florida. The impressive shot came on a par-3 hole using a 7-iron.
In the video of the moment, Charlie’s concentration was clear as he took a smooth swing and tracked the ball’s path.
The ball landed about six feet left of the hole before rolling gently into the cup.
As the ball disappeared, Charlie stopped mid-stride, raising his hand with an open palm at waist level, a surprised smile spreading across his face.
The crowd erupted in cheers, and Charlie turned to his father, Tiger, for an emotional hug. Their matching red shirts and black pants added a special touch, reflecting Tiger’s iconic look.
Tiger, visibly proud, exclaimed, “Yeah!” and playfully pushed Charlie as they shared the celebratory moment.
After the round, Charlie expressed his excitement about the achievement. “It was awesome,” he said. “No one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. On top of that, I made an ace. I don’t think I can top that.”
For Tiger, the moment was as meaningful as any in his illustrious career. “That’s one of the highlights we’ve ever had,” he shared.
Looking back on Charlie’s development in the game, Tiger remarked, “On the hole previous, he made his first eagle (in a previous PNC), and now he just made his first hole-in-one. It’s a magical two-hole stretch. I’m just so happy for him and for the enjoyment we had as a family.”

Acknowledging that he’s not at his best physically for competitive play, Tiger Woods highlighted his role as a reliable teammate in scramble-style golf, where players combine their best shots.
He also shared that the greatest reward of the tournament was the chance to partner with his son and enjoy such meaningful moments on the course.
Team Woods finished tied for the first-round lead with Team Langer (Bernhard and Jason Langer) and Team Singh (Vijay and Qass Singh) at 13-under 59, setting up an exciting final round. In the playoff, Team Langer secured the victory with a well-executed approach shot and an 18-foot eagle putt.
Team Woods finished as the runners-up, marking their second top-two finish at the PNC Championship. Their previous best finish came in 2021 when they were second, two strokes behind John Daly and his son, John Daly II.
After Team Langer’s victory, Bernhard Langer expressed confidence in Team Woods’ future success, saying, “I’m convinced they are going to win this thing in the next few years. They are just too good.”
Although Tiger Woods continues to be a dominant presence in golf, he acknowledged during a December 21 interview with Golf Channel that he once lost to his son in a round of golf. “Yeah, he beat me for nine holes. Yet to beat me for 18 holes. That day is coming. I’m just prolonging it as long as I possibly can,” Tiger admitted.

Being the son of one of the greatest golfers of all time, Charlie deals with high expectations. However, Tiger provides his son with straightforward guidance. “You know, Charlie is Charlie. Yes, he’s my son. He’s going to have that last name as part of the sport, but I just want him to be himself,” he shared.

The proud father went on, “That’s what we’ve been [and] we will always focus on. I will always encourage it, for him to carve his own name, carve his own path, and have his own journey.”
When questioned about how Charlie is handling the pressures of being in the public eye, Tiger showed confidence in his son’s ability, saying, “I think he is doing a great job.” He pointed out that Charlie faces unique challenges as part of a generation constantly under the watchful eye of social media, where people are often recorded and observed.
Tiger recognized that this visibility is something Charlie will need to manage as he matures, both in his career as a golfer and as an individual. “I try to do the best job I possibly can as a parent,” Tiger shared. “I’m always here for him.”
Charlie’s hole-in-one at the 2024 PNC Championship highlighted his impressive skill and the close relationship between him and Tiger, creating a memorable moment in their golfing journey.
